Accessibility

Our vision is to make St Mary’s more accessible to all. You will find the detail of what we are doing in each area to achieve this in each section of this site but in brief theses are:

  • A fully accessible toilet has already been installed in phase 1 (autumn 2017)
  • The removal of pews in the nave (complete Easter 2019) has ensured that wheelchairs can be accommodated much more easily and be fully integrated into the body of people using the building.
  • Phase 3 will bring a redesigned entrance to the church which will eliminate all steps at the north door and make the route into church much more direct. Any person with mobility problems will be able to enter the building unaided
  • Phase 3 will also consider how we can make the chancel fully accessible (currently there are two steps up to this part of the building).
